Isn’t this an interesting looking butterfly? Kinda creepy, right? Some butterflies use the designs on their wings to scare away predators, while some butterflies use the designs for camouflage, so that their predators don’t see them.
“The GloFish is a patented and trademarked brand of genetically modified (GM) fluorescent zebrafish with bright red, green, orange-yellow, blue, and purple fluorescent colors. Although not originally developed for the ornamental fish trade, it is one of the first genetically modified animals to become publicly available as a pet.”
They’re gorgeous, but it makes me wonder. Would they be able to survive if they’re fluorescent? Sometimes, I think we shouldn’t mess with the way nature made things.
Peacocks are one of the most beautiful animals out there, distinguished by their unique feathers. Funny what a couple of pigments can do when they get together on feathers.
Peacocks are actually male peafowls. Females are called peahens and their babies are called peachicks.
This is the United States at night. Isn’t it amazing?
You could be thinking,”Okay? It’s just a bunch of lights…” but the bigger message is: look at what we can do when we get together. If we can get together and light up the States, why can’t we get together and save the environment?
These are Nudibranchs! They’re often mistaken for sea slugs, but aren’t really related. (Or so Wikipedia says.) These guys are invertebrate and they don’t have skeletons. Pretty darn cool looking, though.
